What an amazing truth that God does not change. He is the God of yesterday, today, and tomorrow (Hebrews 13:8). Our lives are unpredictable. We have our schedules for ourselves, but those can change in an instant. I very much am a schedule maker. I like to plan ahead of time. I learned that, though schedules are helpful, God has His own plan. His plans might not match our plans, and you can be sure that His plans will always trump our plans.
We can get frustrated at this. I have allowed myself to be frustrated, more times than I’d like to admit. We are people of habit. A lot of us don’t like change, but life just happens. Who knows what today will hold. Although our circumstances may change, our God is faithful. We can count on Him!⠀
⠀
I think my plans are the best when I create them. That is why frustration is easy to fall into when my plans are interrupted. However, I have learned that God’s plans are perfect. They are for you and not against you. If He changes your circumstance, it is because of a better and greater reason- one you might not be able to see right now!⠀
Instead of focusing on yourself and the will you have for your life, let the Perfect One have total access to your schedule. Walk with the One Who will lead you into greener pastures. He knows what He is doing, and it’s for your good. Bring your anxieties to your Father, and find rest in Him when everything else seems unpredictable. He is faithful, never changing, Remember that!
I find it so interesting that many times in the Bible He tells us to “remember.” Remember the past, remember what He has done, remember, remember, remember. Then we are even told to tell our children, tell others, proclaim what God has done. There is power in remembering. There is faith-building power in remembering what God has done. The God of the Bible is the same God of today and tomorrow. His faithfulness of the past is the same today and tomorrow. His love of the past is the same today and tomorrow. Circumstances come and go, but through them all, we can trust our God who never changes.
I remember the days of old. I ponder all your great works and think about what you have done. I lift my hands to you in prayer. I thirst for you as parched land thirsts for rain. Interlude Come quickly, Lord, and answer me, for my depression deepens. Don’t turn away from me, or I will die. Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you. (Psalms 143:5-8 NLT)
