YOU ARE THE 67TH BOOK OF THE BIBLE.

Have you ever imagined, that as a Christian, your lifestyle would be the closest thing some unbelievers would ever get to experience Jesus? Our changed lives are supposed to serve as a letter of recommendation and testimony for unbelievers to come to Jesus. Apart from making a difference in this world, we are also made to be different from unbelievers. In our speech, thought patterns, walk, and every other thing, we ought to be different from those that do not know Christ.

“You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.” 2 Corinthians 3:2-3 (NLT)

Since we are heirs of the Most High God, everything about us is supposed to be different. When discussing an issue with an unbeliever, especially those issues that will bring about strife- there should be a difference in the way we respond to that unbeliever. In fact, the Bible admonishes us to do away with arguments that are of no value. We are to be kind, loving, and respectful of others. The only time we are permitted to stand for what we believe in is when we are defending the Christian faith. Any other argument is meaningless.

“Again I say, don’t get involved in foolish, ignorant arguments that only start fights. A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people.” 2 Timothy 2:23-24 (NLT)

As a Christian, you should know that your life is under scrutiny, every day. You really do not know who is watching you. While on my way to school some weeks back, a lady saw me in the subway tunnel and said in excitement “hey, I know you. You’re in the Times Square Church Choir. Your bow ties set you apart. I’m always happy when I see you guys minister to us. God bless you so much” It was an emotional moment for me. That experience made me realize that my life, and that of other Christians, are under the microscope. We cannot let our guards down.

If as a Christian, you have to tell an unbeliever that you’re a Christian without them seeing the trace of Christianity in your life, then you have some work to do- myself included. People have to see the characteristics of Christ in you, even without you seeing it. People out there want to know the Christ that we serve, but they want to experience Him through those of us that follow Him before they can be convinced. Everything about you must point people to Christ. You’re the epistle that people read.
